'Songs Sung From The Heart' - the full LIKE HONEY story...more to come soon...stay tuned!

Sisters Joan and Alexandra Sliwin have been singing together since they were kids. It started with mandatory piano lessons which led them to much more. Beginning with church choir and neighborhood talent shows, they were swept into a folk singing group with high school friends. The following year Alex and college friends formed the After Five jazz group working local night spots and the Detroit Auto Show. With Aretha Franklin living down the block and Berry Gordy’s Motown Records right around the corner, it’s no wonder Laura, from After Five, and her friend Temmer, along with the Sliwin sisters formed the Mama Cats, a rock/soul group. Signed to seminal Detroit label, Hideout Records, the girls were in good company recording and performing with Bob Seger and soon to be Eagles co-founder, Glenn Frey. In fact, Seger wrote the Mama Cats first single, Miss You.

1968 – the Mama Cats become Honey Ltd. Soon after arriving in Los Angeles, they signed with legendary writer-producer Lee Hazlewood’s LHI Records. That year was a whirlwind of concerts and TV, from The Jerry Lewis Show and The Andy Williams Show to Operation Entertainment and the Ed Sullivan Show, from Disneyland to Vietnam. At a USO performance in Anaheim, Bob Hope asked them to join his Christmas Show Tour to Vietnam.
Their recordings enjoy a large cult following and have been known to fetch some pretty outlandish prices on internet auctions. They worked Caesar’s Palace and appeared in numerous commercials.

Following Honey Ltd., Joan recorded with Eve on Jimmy Bowen’s Amos Records. Jimmy also produced the music for the cult film classic Vanishing Point on which Eve wrote and sang. Alex and Joan wrote and recorded on United Artist Records project with hit writer, Jack Keller (Bewitched, Run to Him, Everybody’s Somebody’s Fool). Teamed with Jules Alexander and Russ Giguere of The Association, they were members of A&M recording artist, Bijoux. Also while with A&M and Almo Publishing, they worked with Paul Williams and David Batteau. The girls worked with Arista Records artist Ray Parker Jr. of Ghostbuster fame and John Kay of Steppenwolf and Johnny Tillotson (Poetry In Motion). Then came country when Joan sang with Loretta Lynn. Whether in the studio or on the road, Grand Ole Opry or Kennedy Center, Las Vegas or Jamboree in the Hills, Loretta’s TV specials or numerous Tonight Shows, Joan was honored to work with the legendary coal miner’s daughter. But Joan wasn’t the only one spending time in Nashville. A few years later Alex was there writing the musical, Mail Order Bride, appearing in local commercials, and singing with trio Dacron Poly and Esther.
Back to Los Angeles once again, Alex continued songwriting with songs placed in Disney movie Dark Horse, National Geographic Special, and the new musical, Underwing.  You can hear some of Alex's music at: www.underwing.tv
Joan continued writing and singing but relocated to New York.
Now, after a long time on separate coasts, the sisters are together again and singing as sweetly as ever...
but seeing is believing!
